Amidst the upheaval of the Cultural Revolution in 1970s Beijing, a group of teenage boys, led by the audacious 14-year-old Monkey, find themselves in a city where the adults have vanished to distant provinces. Left to their own devices, the boys explore the sprawling urban landscape, engaging in mischief and pushing the boundaries of their newfound freedom. As they delve into the perplexing and intoxicating world of first loves and fleeting innocence, their sun-drenched days become a poignant reflection of youth, rebellion, and the bittersweet passage of time.
